Offer description

Supporting the delivery of the Trust's public health strategy to ensure that ill health prevention and health promotion are part of core frontline service delivery, working on projects to deliver improvements in population health and reduction of health inequalities in the context of urgent and emergency care.

The post holder will enroll on a three-year, Level 6 Apprenticeship on Public Health Practice at the University of Salford.

Please refer to Annex 21 of Agenda for Change. As an apprentice, you will receive 60% of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate for the first 12 months. This will increase by 5% each year as explained in Agenda for Change terms and conditions. For internal candidates, the possibility of a secondment can be explored.

The Public Health Practitioner (Apprentice) will gain skills and experience, including supporting the Public Health team with project design and delivery, data collection and analysis, promotion and communication with staff, patients, system partners, and the wider public. The Level 6 Apprenticeship will be fully funded, with protected time provided as part of their role to complete studies.

You will be part of an evolving team developing our organisational capacity to work as an effective system partner to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities in the communities we serve. The post holder will report to the Public Health Manager and work with multidisciplinary teams from across NWAS and system partners to support the delivery of NWAS public health strategic aims.

The role will also support the development and delivery of training to increase capacity and capability for public health across the Trust, ensuring projects and learning are widely disseminated.

The applicant should have a keen interest in Public Health, data, research, project management, and communications, with a view to delivering health improvement and prevention projects, and supporting the embedding of Public Health practice across NWAS.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24/7 emergency and non-emergency services, including accident and emergency care, patient transport, major incident response, and NHS 111 services.
