Job Title Financial Accountant Role Support Functions Expertise Support - Finance Job Location London Description We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our global finance team working from our London office. Bird & Bird's Accounts team's mission is to provide world class finance support to the business. The global team comprises 250 based across our network of offices. In London the team comprises circa 70 finance professionals across a wide range of areas including management and financial accounting, transaction processing, partner accounting, tax, treasury, pricing and commercial decision support. Our 32 international offices have their own professionals providing local expertise and support. Collaborative across the network the team are focussed on driving efficiency, adding value and profitable growth. This role will be joining Financial Planning and Analysis team, a team of four in London, reporting to the Group Accountant. Key Responsibilities Year End - Statutory Accounting Manage the production and approval of the firms UK based statutory reporting. This includes: Preparation of the Consolidated Group LLP financial statements, including notes and disclosures, relevant subsidiary Financial Statements for both LLP and Limited Company accounts and Dormant Financial Statements. Produce the year end reporting packs for all entities to be reviewed and completed by international offices. Complete a reconciliation of members interest calculations with the assistance of the partnership accounting team to allow the compilation of the Statement of Changes in Members Interest. Prepare relevant internal documents to support the finalisation of the financial statements Assist the group accountant with year-end Audit including planning and preparing timetable, liaison and communication with Auditors Assist the group accountant with year-end close process including: Support the finalisation of management accounts profit by facilitating the global WIP valuation, global recharge and management charge process, support group loan Interest calculation and support ad hoc adjustments for corporation tax, accruals, prepayments and dilapidations. Support the finalisation of statutory accounts profit by completing the global Debt valuation and calculating and or reconciling international calculations for holiday pay accruals, bank account revaluations, intercompany account revaluations and intercompany reconciliations Maintain a profit reconciliation to track and summarise differences between management account profit and statutory profit. Intercompany Accounting Prepare month end intercompany account reconciliations, supporting finance managers with any necessary corrections. Complete the month-end intercompany netting process including the production of relevant invoicing Assist the group accountant with international finance manager requests in relation to the netting process Cashflow and Treasury Assist the group accountant with the monthly compilation of the firms global cashflow and subsequent reporting Assist international office finance managers to gather relevant information and verify data. Assist the treasury team to support the CFO with day-to-day operations by providing ongoing support with cashflow calculations. Data Integrity Assist the group accountant with financial systems data integrity and global local reporting requirements Maintain and develop processes to reconcile data from various financial information sources Work with the firms reporting teams to maintain and develop reporting. What you'll bring Experience of working in an accountancy practice background with strong technical experience would be appreciated. Holding an ACA or ACCA qualification, internationally recognised equivalents will also be considered. Experience of working to implement / a strong working knowledge of the FRS102 Lease Accounting and Revenue Recognition principles is also desired. Experience of working with Aderant and using SQL would benefit the individual. The ability to adapt well to using new finance software is desired. Excellent working knowledge of Excel. Good organisational skills with the ability to use own initiative and a proactive attitude. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work produced. Team player and flexible with a can-do attitude. Excellent communication skills with the ability to distil financial information to colleagues in other departments of the business.
