Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
As a Multi‑Skilled Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving a mix of both new and legacy production equipment within a fast‑paced FMCG environment. The role requires hands‑on problem‑solving skills, fault‑finding capability, and a proactive approach to maintaining high equipment reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging machinery.
* Undertake mechanical maintenance including bearings, pumps, valves, and gearboxes.
* Perform electrical fault finding and basic repair work as required.
* Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise machinery performance and minimise downtime.
* Work independently on shift, maintaining a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering or a completed apprenticeship.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
* A strong mechanical background with solid knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and valves.
* Competent with electrical fault finding and repair (essential).
* Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently on shift.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with food or FMCG machinery
* Familiarity with conveyors and packaging systems
* Solid knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, valves, gearboxes)
* Confident working with both older and modern equipment
