Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the day-to-day management of the dairy herd, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and health. • Develop and implement innovative strategies to optimize cow management practices, including breeding, nutrition, and husbandry. • Lead a tight knit team, providing guidance, training where required to ensure the efficient operation of the farm. • Collaborate with veterinarians, nutritionists, and other experts to continually improve herd health and productivity. • Implement sustainable farming practices aimed at reducing environmental impact while maintaining profitability. • Monitor production metrics and implement measures to enhance efficiency and productivity. • Stay informed about industry trends, research, and best practices in dairy farming, and incorporate new knowledge into farm operations. • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to herd management, production, and sustainability initiatives. What You’ll Need to be considered: • Proven experience in dairy farming, with a strong background in herd management and or senior stockman roles. • Deep understanding of cow welfare, nutrition, reproduction, and health. • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team. • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to farm management. • Commitment to sustainability and a desire to implement environmentally responsible farming practices. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, suppliers, and other stakeholders. • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota.
