SJW Architects is an evolving, design-focused architectural practice working on carefully crafted projects across the Peak District and London. Led by Susi Wellings - previously of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners - we approach each project with attention to context, detail and long-term impact.
The role
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our small studio. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of a growing practice and take on real responsibility within a close-knit, collaborative team, as we expand into work with a greater social remit.
We are looking for someone who:
* Has completed RIBA Part 2 as a minimum but is preferably qualified. We are looking for the right person rather than a particular level of experience
* Is an exceptional designer who thinks critically and considers all aspects of the design
* Has a strong design sensibility and attention to detail
* Is highly proficient in 2D & 3D CAD (ideally MicroStation)
* Has excellent visual presentation skills across a range of media:
o By hand - sketches and models
o 3D - SketchUp / Rhino / 3ds Max / Twinmotion
o Presentation -Photoshop / In Design
* Is able to produce drawings through all RIBA stages and prepare tender packs
* Is organised, motivated and adaptable
* Is comfortable both working independently and collaboratively
* Has good communication skills
* Is interested in socially engaged design
* Is excited to contribute to a small but ambitious team
Responsibilities will include:
* Working on live projects from early design through to technical stages
* Contributing to planning applications and drawing packages
* Assisting in the delivery of new projects as we move into the public and community sector
* Taking on responsibility appropriate to your level, with support as needed

The role will include travel to London.
