We ae excited to advertise a new role within the Croydon A&L service which will involve working in conjunction with the Croydon Health & wellbeing space to support Service Users in the community.
The Croydon Assessment & Liaison (A&L) Service is made up of three teams North, South & Central. We provide advice on the best treatment and care options available to people between the ages of 18-65 living in the London Borough of Croydon who have moderate to severe mental illness, such as anxiety, depression or personality disorder. We work closely with the Croydon Health & Wellbeing space, GPs, patients and carers.
The Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space (CHWS) is a drop-in service located in the heart of a busy shopping centre in Croydon (The Whitgift Centre). The space is open 6 days a week, 9-5pm. We operate drop-in times, 10-1pm, and the times outside this are for support appointments. The post holder will support with the assessment and delivery of psychological interventions for both individual and groups. Briefly, this may involve the assessment/triage of new referrals for psychology, followed by either the appropriate sign-posting of clients to alternative talking therapy services, or the offer and delivery of support in the form of group and individual psychological interventions. These psychological interventions will be supervised by a qualified clinical psychologist. The role will be during week days and operate between 9am and 5pm.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work across the Croydon Assessment & Liaison Team (3 days a week) and The Croydon Health and wellbeing space (2 days a week), providing group and individual work, including psychoeducation, crisis management, carers support, and psychological and emotional support. The post holder will be responsible for co-facilitating groups at the CHWS and supporting a small caseload of patients in Croydon A&L.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. NVQ Level 3 completed in a mental health setting or equivalent qualification.
Desirable criteria
2. Undergraduate degree (e.g. Bsc Psychology, or equivalent
3. Training in other specific interventions e.g. CBT/ DBT therapy, solution focused therapy
Experience
Essential criteria
4. Experience of working in community mental health or acute inpatient settings
5. Experience of facilitating psychological or emotional support groups
6. Experience of supporting patients during a mental health crisis
7. Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities
Desirable criteria
8. Experience of delivering psychoeducation
9. Experience of supporting carers/relatives
Knowledge
Essential criteria
10. Good theoretical knowledge of the problems experienced by and needs of at least one client group and of methods of assessment and treatment.
11. Ability to present information both written and oral and communicate this effectively
Desirable criteria
12. Knowledge of psychological therapies (i.e. CBT, MBT, DBT, ACT)
