Assistant Menswear Designer Overview
An exciting new role has arisen for an Assistant Menswear Designer to join a highly successful fashion company.
The Assistant Menswear Designer will be part of a collaborative team that focuses on researching, designing, selecting, and sourcing menswear and accessories that reflect our brand’s identity and meet the needs of our customers.
Assistant Menswear Designer Responsibilities:
1. Support the Design and Product Development Manager in the creation and sourcing of high-quality menswear and accessories that reflect the brand’s seasonal direction, style identity, and commercial goals.
2. Create precise and detailed CAD drawings and artwork files to support production requirements.
3. Assist in maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers and contribute to negotiations on pricing, delivery timelines, and terms to ensure both quality and value.
4. Track industry trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to help identify new product opportunities and inform design decisions.
5. Review sales data and contribute to data-driven adjustments in product ranges, stock levels, and pricing to improve performance.
6. Assist the Product Development Manager and merchandiser in overseeing the complete product development process, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
7. Collaborate with the technical team to ensure all products meet brand quality standards, helping to resolve any issues that arise during production.
8. Work closely with the design, merchandising, and marketing teams to support the smooth and unified launch of each seasonal collection.
9. Contribute to efforts in identifying and sourcing sustainable materials and practices in support of the company’s environmental commitments.
10. Compile trend reports and market research using forecasting tools and competitor analysis to inform the design process.
11. Assist in developing visual merchandising guidelines to support stores with display concepts, layouts, and styling techniques.
Skills & Experience
12. Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret data and spot market trends.
13. Exceptional attention to detail and a strong appreciation for product quality, fit, and design.
14. Comfortable working independently, yet effective in a team environment across multiple departments.
15. Skilled in Microsoft Excel, with experience in retail or product management systems.
16. Confident in communication and influencing others to support project goals.
17. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop.
