An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) wishing to take a leading role across Caithness and Sutherland.
You will join a friendly and dynamic team of 12 Speech and Language Therapists based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness serving the North Highland Area, and covering the full range of Adult Acquired specialisms. Raigmore Hospital is a busy general hospital providing a comprehensive service to the people of the Highlands. You will have access to a Videofluoroscopy service, a Joint Voice and Swallowing Clinic, AAC resources and Specialist SVR support for Laryngectomy patients.
Responsibilities
* The Postholder will lead on and provide a highly specialist service to the full range of adult acquired conditions in Caithness and Sutherland and will support a part-time Band 6 SLT currently working in Caithness.
* The post holder will provide advice and education to the multidisciplinary/SLT teams as required, undertake specialist teaching to a diverse range of professionals, carers and students and supervise less experienced therapists.
* The post holder is required to work across a range of settings including Caithness General Hospital, community hospitals, other health settings, education, social work, private care providers, and in the community across North Highland.
* Travel to Caithness will be required at least weekly. Ideally the post holder would be based in Caithness or Sutherland but this is potentially negotiable.
Qualifications and Experience
* Extensive postgraduate experience working across all adult clinical areas is required, as well as evidence of highly specialist knowledge in management/rehabilitation of swallowing and communication disorders underpinned by current evidence based practice.
* A BSc, or equivalent, in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics, is essential, along with postgraduate qualifications in management of swallowing disorders e.g. MSc CATS rated course, RCSLT accredited course and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Registration with RCSLT is preferred.
* A full driving licence is required.
