Tractor Driver – Preston City Council
Location: PR1 6JY
Hours: 37 per week, Monday–Friday
Pay: £13.90 per hour
Contract: 4‑week temp with the chance to apply for the permanent role
Preston City Council is looking for an experienced Tractor Driver to support the Parks & Streetscene service, helping maintain parks, green spaces, nature reserves and streets across the city.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate tractors and horticultural vehicles up to 3.5t (7.5t if licence permits).
* Carry out cutting, flailing, towing, lifting and general horticultural tasks.
* Maintain grassed areas, hedges and public open spaces; assist with fly‑tipping and graffiti removal when required.
* Support wider teams including Parks, Refuse, Street Cleansing and event operations.
* Assist with football pitch renovation, deliveries and heavy‑load handling.
* Use handheld tech, GPS and data equipment.
* Work outdoors in all weather and take part in overtime rotas when needed.
* Follow all health & safety procedures.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience operating tractors/horticultural machinery.
* Full driving licence (7.5t desirable).
* Reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work alone or in a small team.
