Payrate: £180 per day via PAYE
Contract Duration: 6 months
Mode: Hybrid
Shifts: 3 to 4 days a week
Position Summary:
Working within Post Production, the Editor is primarily responsible for editing and delivering longform and shortform content for the Warner Bros. Discovery UK & EMEA network channels and streaming platforms. This role requires advanced editing and graphics skills using Avid Media Composer and Adobe After Effects. Strong storytelling abilities and a thorough understanding of broadcast and technical Post Production workflows and specifications are essential.
The Editor will provide high levels of client service to internal and external stakeholders. They will be required to highlight any client needs, edit sessions or workflow challenges/efficiencies to the Technical Operations Manager, Bookings and Post Production Engineering teams as required.
They will be required to work on a cross-section of content including compliance, cut-to-clock, reversioning and GFX customisation edit projects. This role will also require observing and logging any technical or operational issues and includes Quality Assessment work as part of the duties.
Key Responsibilities:
* This is primarily an Online, technical Edit role.
* Compliance, reversioning and cut-to-clock edits.
* Adapting content for various EMEA regions, such as replacing on-screen GFX, subtitles and audio tracks.
* Creating graphics, titles, captions etc. using After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, either by adapting a pre-supplied GFX package/template or from scratch.
* Performing edits according to WBD tech specs, edit instructions and style guides.
* Editing and mastering original content from rushes.
* Ensuring that all aspects of Ofcom, NICAM and all other Codes of Practice relating to the channels and broadcast are observed.
* Maintaining QC standards of newly created materials.
* Accurate metadata entry on systems and documentation.
* Ensuring all operational procedures, workflows and instructions are followed precisely.
* Maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
* Having a client-focused mindset and able to work effectively and considerately as part of a team.
* Demonstrating impeccable, courteous communication skills and a proactive approach to requests. Prioritising and dealing with queries as quickly and efficiently as possible.
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to maintain the look and feel of WBD brands.
* Communicating queries or missing materials to Edit Bookings, the Edit Coordinators, the Media Management Team, and liaise with the Content Operations Team.
* Ability to problem solve issues with Avid and the workflow, while also reporting any technical problems to the Post Production Engineering team and Technical Operations Manager.
* Once up to speed, the ability to train junior and new members of the DPost edit team and the wider team on specific workflows if required.
* Additional Ad hoc duties as required.
* You may be required to work shifts.
Requirements:
* Advanced knowledge of Avid Media Composer is absolutely essential
* Advanced knowledge of Adobe After Effects is also essential
* Grading skills using Avid Symphony and/or Baselight Editions are desirable.
* Good understanding of Ofcom and NICAM code of practices, the DPP and EBU regulations
* An impeccable attention to detail is a must
* Ability to diagnose and repair erroneous content
* Understanding of the AVID Interplay server is a plus
* Experience of other non-linear editing platforms is also a plus
* Ability to coordinate, prioritise and edit in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to work well under pressure
* Technical training and experience in a recognised post facility or media-based organisation.
* Advanced knowledge of file-based workflows and broadcast technology
* Good operational knowledge of editing working within a team environment.
* Excellent understanding of video and audio theory
* Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to identify and prioritise problems
* Decision making skills
* Although not essential, language skills in addition to English are advantageous, particularly Polish and Spanish.
