About the role
We are hiring for an experienced PLC Engineer to join our Engineering Operations team based at CFC Dordon. We are looking to engage with a skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in PLC code and automation to ensure that our facility and its MHE automation operate at peak performance. You will work shift patterns to support continuous operations, benefiting from a competitive salary and benefits. As a PLC Engineer, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive PLC work at our CFC and provide front-line support to investigate and resolve PLC code-related issues within our live operational systems as quickly and safely as possible, minimising impact to the operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and deploy necessary code fixes when PLC code issues are identified or suspected.
* Activate pre-defined workarounds or make temporary PLC code modifications when hardware failures are identified, to allow continued operation with minimal impact during repairs.
* Drive and support change for MHE equipment and process improvement.
* Use appropriate software to download configurations to non-PLC intelligent devices (e.g., Bar Code Readers, shuttle cars, local accumulation modules) that are part of the control system.
* Roll out and monitor bug fixes, tuning, or code upgrades.
Key Requirements
* Proficiency in PLC control system architecture, AC/DC motor controls, and SCADA and Siemens HMI systems.
* Experience as an Engineer within Automated MHE systems where preventative and reactive maintenance were required.
* Tech-savvy with hands-on experience in investigating and resolving PLC issues, and a solid understanding of automation hardware and software.
* Experience with online code monitoring, modification, and development using Siemens S7 300/400 PLCs and TIA.
* Background in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, with a formal Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
* Good communication, organisation, planning and prioritisation skills.
* Experience with the criticality of MHE in an automated environment and prioritising responses appropriately is advantageous.
