A welcoming primary school in Barnet is currently recruiting a full-time 1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic about making a genuine difference in a child’s day-to-day school experience.
The role will include:
• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD
• Supporting the student both inside and outside of the classroom
• Helping the pupil stay engaged with learning and daily routines
• Using positive behaviour management and communication strategies
• Supporting emotional regulation and social development
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents
• Creating a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment
To be considered for this role, you will need:
• Experience working with children or young people with ASD or additional needs
• A patient, calm, and caring approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to adapt learning and support to individual needs
• Previous experience within schools, care, youth work, or support work is desirable
This role would suit candidates from backgrounds such as SEN support, psychology, youth work, care work, speech and language support, or early years support.
