Our client, a global leader in advanced engineering, manufacturing equipment, and service solutions, is seeking an experienced Calibration Lab Manager to lead their UK calibration operations based in the West Midlands. The Role
As Calibration Lab Manager, you’ll take ownership of the calibration laboratory, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance across all operations. You’ll be the site specialist for calibration technologies, leading a talented technical team and working with internal and external partners to uphold the highest standards of precision and safety.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Establishing and managing the Calibration Lab to UKAS standards and acting as the UKAS signatory.
Managing and performing the operation and calibration of torque and angle equipment, including rotary and static torque transducers.
Ensuring full compliance with ISO17025, MCERTS, and internal quality management systems.
Developing and implementing systems to uphold data integrity and audit readiness.
Collaborating with the sales and marketing teams to promote UKAS and DAKKS calibration services throughout the UK.
Designing and executing a strategic business plan to drive calibration service growth.
Providing specialist support during audits, investigations, and technical evaluations.
Maintaining a safe, efficient, and technically advanced lab environment, promoting a zero-accident culture.
Coaching and developing team members to ensure ongoing technical excellence and best practice.
About You
We’re looking for a technically adept and driven professional who brings strong experience in calibration management — particularly in torque measurement and torque calculations. You’ll be a hands-on leader with excellent technical judgement, an eye for precision, and the ability to grow a business function from both a technical and commercial perspective.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven background in calibration engineering, with hands-on experience in torque and angle calibration.
Previous experience working in or managing a UKAS-accredited laboratory (ISO17025).
Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Ability to develop and execute business plans to support service growth.
Strong communication and customer-facing skills, with the confidence to educate and influence.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently or collaboratively.
Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel across the UK (and occasionally overseas for training).
