Grade: G10; Salary: £47,181 – £50,269; 37 hours per week
Fixed Term Contract Until March 2029

Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and advocacy for health and wellbeing and support the development and implementation of policy and practice to reduce inequalities across Walsall.
* Work with staff, organisations, and community groups to build public health capacity, targeting support to those in greatest need.
* Manage Walsall's allocation of the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) Local Stop Smoking Services and Support Grant, contributing to the delivery of the Tobacco Control Strategy (2023‑2027).
* Enhance existing stop‑smoking services, expand new pathways, develop and deliver training and education programmes, and roll out public awareness campaigns.
* Manage the budget and coordinate reporting returns associated with the grant programme.
* Collaborate with NHS, community and voluntary sector partners, streamline referral routes, and increase the breadth and capacity of smoking cessation services including pharmacotherapies such as Varenicline.
* Work in a matrix fashion, maintaining close links with staff in other teams and organisations on related outcomes, and cross‑cover the work of other team members as required.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience working at a strategic level, developing system‑wide health and wellbeing policy, and leading significant external funding programmes.
* Strong knowledge of smoking cessation systems and experience in system development, collaboration, and referral pathway optimisation.
* Proven ability to manage budgets and coordinate reporting for large grant programmes.
* Evidence of generic public health skills, competencies, and knowledge that enable cross‑team coverage and rapid adoption of new work areas.
