Job overview

The Strategy, Planning & Performance Directorate is seeking to recruit to the position of Senior Performance Analyst.

This role is crucial to our success and continued development of our commissioning arrangements, in particular, the performance management that support these arrangements. It is an exciting opportunity for a numerate, talented, organised and time-bound individual to join our team. Working with a skilled and committed leadership group who are driven by the delivery of quality patient care, informed through a predictive performance capability and detailed performance analysis.


Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Commissioning & Performance Manager you will be responsible for supporting the continued development of the Trust’s Quality & Performance Management Framework, in particular: regular reporting to Trust Board, committees and external stakeholders; performance deep dives, performance improvement projects and developing performance reporting arrangements across the Trust.

You will also be required to work closely with the Assistant Director Commissioning & Performance and the Assistant Director of Strategy & Planning and wider members of the Directorate team on delivery of the Trust’s Integrated Medium-Term Plan and transformation.

In line with the Trust’s Starting Salary Procedure, all applicants will start at the bottom of the band for the position applied for, but can apply for a higher salary if they have previous experience relevant to the position.

Qualifications & Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Specialist knowledge and experience of statistical and analytical techniques and procedures, by a relevant degree or equivalent experience, plus additional specialist knowledge via a post graduate diploma or equivalent relevant experience.


Desirable criteria

* MSC in related discipline.


Experience


Essential criteria

* Experience of communicating complex information to a non-technical audience.
* Understanding of analytical techniques – specifically data and measurement including advanced graphs, correlation and regression, pivot tables, statistical process control.
* Knowledge of improvement techniques – specifically Plan/Do/Study Act and value-based healthcare. High level of understanding of improvement in health and care settings and the role of the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.


Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of simulation tools.
* Familiarity with health board terminology.


Skills & Attributes


Essential criteria

* Advanced IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications, in-particular advanced MS Excel.
* Statistical analysis of complex information, using software packages such as QI Charts, StudyIt2.
* Advanced use of performance management and data interrogation software such as Qliksense, Power BI, etc.
* Ability to present complex data in a succinct way for senior decision makers.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under own initiative and manage a complex workload.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work to constant deadlines and prioritise own workload.
* Self-motivated, innovative and proactive.
* Ability to be reliable under pressure.
* High level of personal integrity.


Desirable criteria

* Ability to speak Welsh.
* Willingness to learn new software packages.
* Willingness to travel between sites in Wales.


Other


Essential criteria

* Ability to provide direct support to clinical and operations functions during periods of extreme pressure.
* Able to work hours flexibly.
