The Pump Fitter is responsible for the assembly and fitting of magnetically driven sealless pumps, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation in accordance with company and industry standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications. Assemble, strip, and rebuild mag-drive sealless pumps to specification Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions Ensure correct alignment, tolerances, and clearances during assembly Inspect components for wear, corrosion, or damage and recommend replacements Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, etc.) Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and documentation Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations Support continuous improvement activities within the workshop Liaise with engineering, quality, and production teams as required Complete job cards, inspection reports, and test documentation accurately Essential Proven experience as a pump fitter, mechanical fitter, or rotating equipment technician Hands-on experience with sealless pumps (mag-drive or canned motor preferred) Strong mechanical assembly and fault-finding skills Ability to read and work from engineering drawings Competent use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments Understanding of safe working practices and risk assessments Desirable Experience in chemical, process, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, or similar industries Knowledge of ATEX or hazardous area equipment Experience with pressure testing and performance testing Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering Qualifications NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Forklift, lifting & slinging, or pressure testing certification (advantageous) Personal Attributes High attention to detail and quality Methodical and safety-focused approach Good problem-solving skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Flexible and adaptable to changing workloads Working Conditions Workshop-based with occasional site work (if applicable) Manual handling involved Possible overtime depending on workload What We Offer Competitive salary (dependent on experience) Overtime opportunities Pension scheme Training and development opportunities Safe, well-equipped working environment _We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
