Description
We are seeking a new lecturer to enhance expertise in Marine Science within the School of Biological and Marine Sciences, University of Plymouth. This role is part of the new Centre for Coastal and Ocean Processes and Engineering (C‑COPE).
About the role
* Strong practical and theoretical expertise in physical oceanography, particularly in open ocean systems, including hands‑on experience with oceanographic instrumentation.
* Preference for candidates who demonstrate established industry collaborations or partnerships.
You will be:
* A highly motivated academic who seeks to build a career at the University of Plymouth.
* Expected to deliver high‑quality research and teaching while becoming an active and productive member of the School’s academic community.
* Deliver teaching in the theory, acquisition and analysis of marine geospatial data, and all aspects of physical oceanography.
* Have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, supported by postdoctoral or equivalent experience.
* Have an excellent research track record, with high‑calibre outputs suitable for the University’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).
* Have evidence of successful grant applications; being a PI is desirable.
The successful candidate may need to obtain an ATAS Certificate before commencing research.
Based at the University of Plymouth city centre campus. Some work‑from‑home flexibility is possible, but on‑site presence is required.
