A registered nurse/Allied Health practitioner with highly developed knowledge, skills, and clinical expertise in acute medical care. The advanced clinical practitioner will provide clinical support to the existing junior medical staff and work in conjunction with consultants in the Emergency Department, with the overall aim of improving quality of care and health outcomes for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues.
2. Deliver sensitive, evidence-based patient care for specific caseloads.
3. Maintain clinical excellence underpinned by evidence-based practice.
4. Undertake clinical audit and participate in research and development.
5. Demonstrate effective clinical leadership.
6. Specialize in providing comprehensive, individualized care.
7. Demonstrate competence in clinical, diagnostic, and examination skills, making management recommendations.
8. Make clinical judgments using complex information and analytical skills, including interpretation of results, and take appropriate actions.
9. Identify appropriate patients for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment independently.
10. Ensure documentation is updated in line with Trust and NMC standards.
11. Make autonomous, professional decisions for which the ACP is accountable.
12. Undertake learning through self-directed learning, bedside teaching, and protected postgraduate teaching.
13. Initiate and undertake preliminary investigations following clinical assessment.
14. Implement decisions made by senior medical staff.
15. Undertake advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
16. Perform clinical reviews and formulate individual management plans independently.
17. Make appropriate referrals to specialties and allied health professions to facilitate ED patient management.
18. Undertake research and audit as required.
19. Develop practice-based protocols to lead advanced professional practice in care.
20. Implement and participate in training programs.
21. Act as an educator, facilitator, and role model to nursing and junior medical staff.
22. Advocate for health promotion strategies and lifestyle modifications to prevent disease deterioration.
23. Undertake verification of deaths in the ED.
