Position

Business Support Administrator (Medical Consultants) within the Mental Health, Alcohol Drugs & Learning Disability Service in East Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership, based at North West Area Centre, Kilmarnock. The post is permanent.


Hours

18 hours per week worked:

* Monday 9am – 5pm
* Tuesday 9am – 12noon
* Friday 9am – 5pm

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.


What You Will Do

* Provide a confidential and comprehensive medical secretarial support service to NHS Mental Health Teams within the Mental Health, Alcohol Drugs & Learning Disability Service.
* Possess an HND in Business Administration or equivalent demonstrable experience, with knowledge of specialist functional, medical and legal terms; organisational policies and procedures; and experience dealing with non‑routine issues such as problem solving and developing alternative or additional procedures.
* Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
* Experience working in an NHS environment with an understanding/experience of NHS networks is desirable.
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
* Be able to work unsupervised using your own initiative, manage challenging timescales, organise and prioritise your workload, and adapt to change and last‑minute demands.


Qualifications and Experience

* HND in Business Administration or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
* Experience in an NHS environment preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Self‑motivation and initiative.
