We are an elective surgical centre delivering arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery.
The Referral to Admissions Team (R2A) is a small team based within the Out‑Patient Department responsible for ensuring timely progression of patients from referral to PPG Plymouth through to admission for surgery.
Main Duties
 * Ensure the safe pathway of each patient from the pre‑admission stage to surgery.
 * Apply Practice Plus Group Plymouth’s clinical criteria and protocols to adhere to policy.
 * Maintain excellent communication skills, including verbal and written documentation.
 * Carry out pre‑operative 7‑day telephone calls to confirm patients are fit for surgery and reduce clinical cancellations.
 * Organise clinical tasks such as managing patients with MRSA/MSSA, stopping medication advice, skin‑care advice, etc.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
 * Registered Nurse with a Level 1 qualification.
 * Evidence of continual professional development to meet relevant regulatory body requirements.
 * Experience in pre‑assessment.
 * Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience with demonstrated competent clinical judgement.
 * Good understanding of infection control and health & safety issues relating to theatre.
 * Ability to plan and prioritise workload when under pressure and to work flexibly within a changing environment.
 * Competent with varied IT systems and excellent time‑management skills, able to work unsupervised.
 * Knowledge of when to refer patients to anaesthetist.
 * Teaching qualification/ENB 998 or equivalent desirable.
 * Teaching qualification or other relevant teaching skills desirable.
