Specialist Doctor Redditch Neighbourhood Mental Health Team

We are looking foran experienced Specialist Doctor, motivated to work independently at a seniorlevel within the Redditch Neighbourhood Mental HealthTeam 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

The team isbased at Hill Crest in Redditch and currently consists of a Clinical Lead, aSenior Mental Health Practitioner, a trainee ACP eight Mental HealthPractitioners, three support workers, a Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner,an IPS worker, Employment Retention worker, Onside Link Worker, support from aConnect Professional and a lead from Worcestershire Association of Carers.

The successfulcandidate will work within this multi-disciplinary team, alongside anotherexperienced Specialist Psychiatrist.

The candidate should havefull Registration with the General Medical Council (or eligible for fullregistration with the GMC at time of appointment), and at least 12 years ofmedical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primarymedical qualification, of which a minimum of six years should have been in Psychiatryas a specialty. MRCPsychor equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry is highly desirable.

Peer group membership for the RCPsych CPD program

Formal weekly academic teaching program

6 weekly Community Medics Forum


Main duties of the job

TheSpecialist Doctor will work with authority and responsibility as agreed,reporting to the supervising Clinical Director.

This is a 40 hour per weekrole, with 20 hours per week dedicated to direct patient care in outpatient clinicsand home visits. The remaining time is allocated to the Multi-disciplinary TeamMeeting, Emergency Reviews, Administrative Duties, and SPA time. There is noon-call commitment in this role.

The candidate will provide direct Psychiatric services throughthe comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment formulation of adultpatients, with a focus on evidence-based treatment and addressing the patientsbiopsychosocial needs, whilst continuously evaluating and acting on outcomes. Effectiverisk management is a key part of the job. They will also engage in assessingreferrals into the team, initiating communication and referral to other healthprofessionals and agencies and undertake regular family/carer liaison.

Opportunitiescan also be arranged for:

Supervision of Foundation Year and GP SpecialistTrainee doctors, teaching activities, audit and quality improvement activities.

Support for attainment of GMC Portfolio Pathwayevidence

Support for attainment of Section 12 or ApprovedClinician status under the Mental Health Act England 1983

Person Specification


Experience

* In line with the 2021 Specialist Grade Contract: A minimum of 12 years medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification, of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty.


Qualifications

* Full Registration with the General Medical Council (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment).
* MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
* MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry is highly desirable.
* Approved Clinician Status under the Mental Health Act, England 1983
