Assistant Director of Legal (Monitoring Officer)
A local authority in Lincolnshire is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Legal (Monitoring Officer) to ensure the council meets its legal and statutory obligations as set out in the Localism Act 2011, Local Government & Housing Act 1989, as amended by Local Government Act 2000.
Responsibilities
As the Assistant Director Legal (Monitoring Officer), you will have a system leadership role in ensuring the council is compliant with all relevant legislation and regulatory standards. You will take responsibility for developing and delivering a strong governance and ethical framework, maintaining the highest standards of local democracy, organisational transparency and ensuring that the rule of the law is observed across the whole organisation and partnership boundaries.
Requirements
* The ideal candidate will have monitoring officer experience and be able to manage risk within the resources available to the council and maintain effective systems of assurance and governance.
* You will also be responsible for the Local Government Access to Information requirements under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and oversee the co-ordination of responses to meet the requirements of the Information Commissioner.
* Prior experience of managing and coordinating a council's legal team
