Job Description As a Senior Process Engineer / Environmental Consultant you will be an integrated member of our UK-wide team, working to undertake process design and modelling studies, data collection, site management, task management, reporting and interpretation of results on a wide range of environmental and engineering projects. We are looking for a Senior looking to further their career, who has experience of supporting on process design and computational modelling assessments. As part of the Site Evaluation and Restoration team you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and conduct a variety of different tasks including equipment design and engineering calculations, numerical modelling, process commissioning and operation, environmental sampling and monitoring, and technical report writing that will impact the success of said projects. Working across various projects, you will have the opportunity to work alongside international technical experts and continue building on your experience. Our environmental team works closely with our global colleagues to share knowledge and collaborate on projects all over the world. There is flexibility as to your choice of location within the UK and we are open to recruitment into any of our existing office locations across the UK. Your Day-to-Day Support desk based engineering design studies, focusing on the design of soil and groundwater remediation systems, as well as industrial water treatment systems, including tasks such as: Process Units Specification Production and review of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) HazOp Studies Pipework Infrastructure design, Pilot Testing analysis Systems automation and control philosophy Undertake Water Conservation Studies, including auditing of water use on industrial facilities and identification/implementation of water savings opportunities Use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to model the behaviour of natural environmental systems as well as to improve the operation of industrial process equipment. Costing and planning of various project tasks Field based work undertaken across the UK, including: Site management of remediation sites and associated environmental works, with a strong focus on health and safety management and documentation. The collection of site and process characterisation data, including soil & groundwater sampling and process performance monitoring. The management of sample collection paperwork, and scheduling for laboratory analysis The operation, troubleshooting and optimisation of process equipment and treatment plants The compilation of site data for factual reports, and development of interpretive reports including environmental assessments and process performance. Work collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall project. Produce project outputs (e.g. documentation, reports, specifications) and ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations and Arcadis requirements and comply with relevant national standards and codes of practice. Develop effective working relationships with the Project Manager and with the client and ensure effective communication of progress and changes and the resolution of issues. Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal and company credibility in the industry. Requirements BSc qualified (or higher) in Chemical and Process Engineering, or equivalent. Entry level experience of working on process design projects and using numerical modelling / CFD software Ability to work both independently, within a local office-based team, and larger multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects to tight deadlines and budgets. Experience of working on site, collecting and interpreting/analysing field data Proficient report writer An awareness of potential risks associated with processing plants and environmental investigations, including health & safety, budgetary and technical considerations.
