A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
A personal assistant is required to provide support to a 19‑year‑old young man with autism and learning disabilities living in the Rhiwbina area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide opportunities for varied activities such as walking the dog, practising road safety, 10‑pin bowling, adventure golf, cinema, swimming, and other community events.
* Motivate and assist with reading, writing and other learning tasks.
* Encourage opportunities for social interaction and promote independence.
* Ensure the young person is safe at all times whilst out and about, especially when in a pool or other supervised environments.
* Take the young person to pre‑arranged activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
* Understand and be mindful of the individual's conditions; patient, reliable, dependable, punctual.
* Adhere to confidentiality and act in a caring, friendly, and trustworthy manner.
* Possess a complete enhanced, up‑to‑date DBS check and full COVID‑19 vaccination.
* Experience working with young people with autism and learning disabilities.
* Own and operate a car; hold a class one business licence.
* Have a National Insurance number and be prepared for a trial period.
* References and a DBS (Police) check will be required before employment commences.
WORKING HOURS
11 hours per week:
* Sundays (flexible) – 2 × 2.5 hours for activity sessions on weekday evenings.
* Once every four weeks, 5 hours on either Friday or Saturday evening.
PAY & BENEFITS
* Rate: £13.90 per hour.
* Wage paid four‑weekly; holiday pay provided.
* Full DBS check cost will be covered by the employer (Local Authority).
* Trial period applies.
* Position is part‑time but requires a National Insurance number.
