Resident Engagement Officer (Retrofit)
Contract: Permanent
Location: GMCA office or on site in the community, with remote working within a reasonable commutable distance from Greater Manchester. (This role requires a large percentage of time to be dedicated to onsite working)
About the Role
Join the award‑winning Retrofit Team in the Environment Directorate to support a team delivering over £100m of housing retrofit measures. The role will contribute to Greater Manchester’s 5‑year Environment Plan and Retrofit Action Plan, helping the region become carbon neutral by 2038. You will deliver a diverse front‑line service to support residents and landlords in retrofitting their homes, from promoting available funding, identifying eligible properties, supporting the application process and resolving blockages, to signposting ineligible residents to alternative funding streams.
Additionally, you will promote retrofit funding schemes through the development of marketing materials and communications campaigns, including social media, and provide similar support across the wider Environment Team.
Responsibilities
* Promote retrofit funding and identify eligible properties for residents and landlords.
* Assist residents and landlords through the application process, resolve any blockages, and guide ineligible applicants to alternative funding.
* Develop marketing materials and communication campaigns, including social media, to raise awareness of retrofit schemes.
* Provide support to the wider Environment Team in related initiatives.
About you (Qualifications)
* Experience running promotional campaigns and developing marketing resources.
* Face‑to‑face customer engagement experience, able to convey technical information in simple language and persuade residents about retrofitting.
* Strong partnership working skills, collaborating with government departments, local authorities, contractors, and local partners.
* A passion for tackling climate change and fuel poverty, with a desire to have a direct impact.
* Knowledge of effective methods for engaging residents, including those who require additional assistance.
* Candidates with transferable skills may be considered for formal training.
