Job overview Our leading Specialist Radiology Department is looking for enthusiastic and capable Staff Nurses to be a part of our highly specialised team. Barts Health NHS Trust provides the largest trauma service in the UK and interventional radiology is an integral part of that. We use the latest interventional radiology techniques and minimally invasive procedures to provide the safest and most effective patient care. Our department is busy and part of the one of the most comprehensive imaging departments in London and all of our staff work closely together to continually provide a high standard of patient care. We offer you the opportunity to work within different clinical areas such as Interventional Radiology Theatre, Recovery suite, CT, Ultrasound. The role of the interventional radiology nurse will include scrubbing and circulating during procedures as well as safely sedating patients undergoing interventional procedures. Rotation into the Recovery area will afford opportunities to expand your knowledge in caring for patients post anaesthetics and sedation. We are looking for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse who have very good communication skills, proactive, is flexible and helpful and would like to become a valued member of our team. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate the Interventional Radiology Theatre list on a regular basis as well as participating in the on call rota. Main duties of the job The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse has delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical areas including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards on a shift basis and in the authorised absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and the Senior Staff Nurse for Quality. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential. To have delegated responsibility for the operational and management issues in the authorised absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, and take on the leadership of specific projects as agreed with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. To assist in the provision of expert advice and interventions within radiology (this includes Sedation) that maintains and improves standards of care and promotes a seamless service within a multi-professional framework. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Registered Nurse on NMC Register Diploma in Nursing Evidence of degree level study in health/nursing related studies Experience Essential criteria Current active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council. Relevant experience with Interventional Radiology or other similar areas ie. Cardiac cath lab, Theatres. Desirable criteria Experience in a leadership role Good communication skills.
