Responsibilities
* Responsive day‑to‑day repairs on electrical installations at properties.
* Liaise with customers and colleagues to ensure all relevant parties are aware of progress and actions taken.
* Refer complex cases to a senior member of staff for necessary remedial action.
* Provide a high‑quality service to customers and maintain good customer relationships.
* Ensure work complies with relevant Health & Safety legislation, policies and procedures, including BS 7671.
* Deliver planned or responsive works on time within given priorities, aiming for first‑time fixes.
* Cover out‑of‑hours emergency call‑outs according to the departmental rota.
* Complete and maintain paperwork and records accurately following industry standards and requirements.
* Plan and prioritise tasks using a handheld electronic device.
* Manage time effectively and provide good customer care.
* Set out jobs from drawings and specifications, requisition necessary installation materials and ensure compliance and tests.
* Maintain the company vehicle in good condition, perform safety checks and report defects to the Fleet Manager.
* Collaborate with other trades or teams to deliver excellent service to customers.
* Undertake any required training to broaden skill level.
* Support and assist with the training of apprentices and trainees as required.
Qualifications
* Registered Apprentice Electrician or equivalent method training with adequate practical training in electrical installation work.
* Achievement Measurement 2 and qualification as a registered Electrician with experience in social housing.
* Qualifications including City & Guilds 2391, City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2 or 2351 or 2330 levels 2 and 3, NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installation Work or approved equivalent.
* Desirable: City & Guilds 2394 or 2395 in initial verification, certification, periodic inspection & testing of electrical installations or approved equivalent.
* Practical knowledge and competence working as an electrician in the current edition of BS 7671 and in inspection, testing and commissioning of installations.
* Full driving licence and ability to travel efficiently.
* Ability to undertake physically demanding work.
Summary
This is a permanent, full‑time role, working a 40‑hour week over five days. The role requires a satisfactory Basic DBS check.
