Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Qualified Accountant to join Cheshire East Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Cheshire East Council is seeking a qualified and motivated Local Government Accountant to provide additional senior capacity within our Strategic Finance and Accounting Team. About the Role As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of critical finance functions, including: * Budget setting and in-year financial monitoring * Coordination and management of the Capital Programme * Preparation of year-end accounts and financial statements * Supporting the external audit process * Treasury management and strategic financial planning * Technical accounting and the implementation of standards such as IFRS 16 What We’re Looking For * A recognised professional accountancy qualification – ideally CIPFA, but CGMA, ACCA or equivalent are also welcome * Experience in a Local Authority or wider public sector finance environment * Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to analyse, present and explain complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders * A proactive and flexible approach with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment Working Arrangements - Hybrid. Office based initially for training and then 2/3 days per month in the office.
