Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing, understanding the importance of the first 1001 days in an infant's life.
Our Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team supports new mothers and mothers-to-be experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues during the perinatal period. As part of a significant service expansion, your experience and compassion could be essential in delivering our long-term vision for this vital service.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to grow and develop, aiming to provide a high-quality mental health response to women in the perinatal period and their partners. The service gained accreditation in January 2024.
You will be part of an established, integrated, multidisciplinary team that promotes a dynamic, innovative approach, including triaging referrals, conducting face-to-face assessments, and delivering therapeutic interventions. Collaboration with team members ensures a holistic and tailored approach to each family on our caseload.
Although the service operates county-wide, it follows a locality-based model to reduce clinicians' travel time. The successful candidate will primarily work in East Cornwall but will need to attend the base at Truro Health Park during induction, duty days, meetings, and training as required.
The post involves senior team responsibilities, liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies to provide creative care packages aligned with national standards set by NHSE and the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Quality Network.
Responsibilities include triaging referrals, conducting perinatal assessments, and delivering specialized therapeutic interventions targeting family-specific perinatal and infant mental health needs. There will be opportunities for further perinatal-specific training to support the role.
The core aim of the team is to deliver high-quality, tailored interventions focusing on maternal mental health and attachment-based approaches for mothers and infants in Cornwall. The service plays a key role in enhancing mental health care standards for expectant and new mothers across universal and specialist services.
Applicants should have a core qualification (e.g., RMN, OT, or SW) and previous experience in mental health services. Being part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to providing effective Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Services to an assigned caseload.
