Government Special Access Programme Security Officer Unit Role: The primary role of the Government Special Access Programme (SAP) Security team is to manage the Security requirements to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of SAP information whilst being processed, transported or stored on-board. Position Role: The GSSO(M) heads the SAP Security Sub department and is responsible for implementation of the SAP Risk Management Framework on-board, to safeguard the nation’s most sensitive programmes and capabilities. Responsible to the UK-Country Security Manager (UKCSM), RN-Special Capabilities; accountable to MOD SAPCO, and international partners, in assuring maintenance and protection of SAP information. Responsibilities: Principle advisor to the Command team on all matters to do with SAP security. This is a unique role in that Command does not hold the risk for SAPs and must take advice from the SAP Security team. Implement and maintain cutting edge security measures for our most sensitive capabilities; ensuring compliance with security polices in order to provide dynamic security support and oversight for the Ship’s facilities, enabling operations worldwide and supporting delivery UK strategic intent. As the manager of a dedicated sub department of 7 personnel, lead and develop the security team whose primary role is to support and enhance the security requirements enabling operations. Elevate the security awareness of all personnel, emphasising the critical nature of protecting our classified assets and information in a global context. Foster an environment of continuous learning and vigilance, ensuring all team members are prepared to handle the complexities of SAP security. Provide assurance for the SAP security team to ensure that all SAP personnel, material and facilities on-board adhere to the general provisions and requirements IAW SOPs. Assure the security posture of the on-board SAP(F) and any controlled assets during Defence Engagement activities. Deploy as a member of the OP LANDAWAY team in the event an embarked aircraft is diverted or as part of a post-crash management team to ensure integrity of sensitive material. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships through international engagement, by participating in international workshops and conferences, discussing security challenges, sharing best practices, and developing global security strategies. Conduct the duties and responsibilities as the GSSO(M) as defined in QEC Security Operating Procedures. Professional Effectiveness Essential – must be able to deal with multiple conflicting priorities and deliver to tight deadlines. Powers of Communication Essential – must have the ability to communicate effectively in order to manage co-ordinated assurance to project deliverables.
