We are looking for experienced Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to join our established ward team. You should already be able to demonstrate the clinical skills required for this post.
Portree Hospital is a community hospital situated in the North of Skye. It has an inpatient ward and Urgent Care Centre. The ward is led by GPs from Portree Medical Practice Monday Friday. Out of hours the ward is supported by Broadford Hospital in South Skye. A busy Urgent care centre operates from the hospital and nursing staff assist the Advanced Practitioners as required. The ward is mixed and provides rehabilitation, End of Life / palliative care, dementia care to patients from the local community.
We work closely with our sister hospital in Broadford. There would be an opportunity to work across both sites. NHS Highland is committed to developing its staff and this could be the start of your journey into nursing. We are keen to grow our own nursing staff and actively participate in Student Nurse training programmes with the Open University.
This post supports our vision of a highly skilled, experienced, flexible workforce that has knowledge and skills in delivering modernised services. You would be part of a dedicated professional nursing Team delivering ahigh standard of nursing care on a mixed medical admissions ward. The work is dynamic and varied due to our rural community and it being a popular holiday destination.
We have a variety of full and part time posts available that include an Internal rotation of day and night duties. If youre not looking for a permanent contract at this point in time then we would welcome applications for Band 3 HCSW to join our bank scheme.

1. Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
