What will your day look like?
* To take initial instructions from clients and to advise on the legal action and all alternatives, as appropriate, open to the client.
* The post holder is expected to take every reasonable opportunity to develop both the firm's and their own practice and to make suggestions and take action, after consultation with the person to whom they are responsible, by arranging meetings, seminars, etc.
* To comply with all SRA rules and regulations presently in force and as added to or amended from time to time
* To meet on a regular basis with the person to whom the post holder reports to review cases and any other matters relevant to the post holder's position. To report to the post holder's supervisor immediately any difficulties being experienced, in particular, those which may lead to a negligence action being taken against the firm and/or a complaint from a client
* To keep abreast of changes in legal practice within the post holder's area of specialism, disseminating this information as appropriate, ensuring the Firm's legal advice reflects best practice and any new market opportunities are developed.
* To attend conferences with Counsel and represent the firm and client as required.
* Supervision of staff: To supervise, train and assist all staff for whom the post holder is directly responsible, in accordance with the firm's policies and the department's procedures and in consultation with the Head of Department and Department Supervisor, as appropriate.

* Be open and cooperative with the FCA, the PRA and other regulators
* Pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly
* Observe proper standards of market conduct
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* You should have a current practising certificate
* 2 - 3 years experience in dealing with complex litigation cases, particularly debt recovery/financial services
* Any relevant professional memberships (panels; special interest groups)
* Experience in client Interviewing and giving authoritative legal advice in specialist area
* Researching of legal & other topics/issues to maintain expertise
* Experience in analysing legal problems, providing interpretation and making recommendations
* Leading and participating in practice development
* Experience in drafting of legal documentation
* Full control and conduct of a number of cases/deals

As part of the Ascent on-boarding process all successful applicants are required to complete the groups employment screening process. *The role will be based from our Manchester office with typical requirement to work from the office 3 days per week.
