Job Overview
The‘Technical Sales Manager–Precast’will be responsible for managing and growingsome ofCFS’s most strategically important precast accounts. This role blends technical specification work, early design engagement, commercial development and account management, requiring a candidate who understands the UK precast industry in depth and can hit the ground running.
The role involves working closely with precast manufacturers, engineers, architects and design teams to secure early-stage specification, influence product selection, provide technical guidance, and drive revenue growth across CFS’s precast product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Specification & Early Design Engagement
* Engage withprecast manufacturers, engineers, architects and design teamstoensurespecification.
* Review architectural, structural, and precast drawings to identify requirements, risks, and technical solutions.
* Provide technical advice, challenge design intent where appropriate, and develop compliant, value-engineered proposals.
* Support the creation of high-level and detailed tenders, including take-offs, specification notes, and marked-up drawings.
2. Account Management & Business Development
* Manage and grow revenue across key precast accounts, maintaining regular communication and building strong relationships.
* Identify new project opportunities and ensure early engagement for precast customers nationwide.
* Work towards KPIs relating to revenue growth, margin improvement, and specification influence.
* Act as primary point of contact for technical and commercial discussions with precast clients.
* Ensure accurate pipeline management using the internal CRM system.
3. Project / Specification Delivery
* Work with Design and Internal Engineering to schedule design programmes, coordinate workloads, and uphold core timelines.
* Support the preparation of complete final tenders, ensuring information is interpreted and communicated correctly.
* Attend pre-contract design meetings, project kick-off meetings, and site/office visits as required.
* Coordinate with Operations to ensure correct delivery scheduling and minimise project risk.
4. Commercial & Margin Management
* Support gross marginmanagementthrough accurate pricing, change control and value-engineering options.
* Identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities aligned with CFS product ranges.
* Compare / cross-reference pricing when specification changes arise to ensure profitability is maintained.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work collaboratively with Sales, Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations throughout the project cycle.
* Ensure best practice, knowledgesharingand lessons learned are fed back into the organisation.
6. Continuous Improvement & Industry Insight
* Stayup-to-datewith precast industry developments, competitor offerings and regulatory requirements.
* Help develop standard details, typical solutions and technical marketing content for precast products.
* Contribute to internal process improvement initiatives and support training of junior specification staff.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Experience
* Minimum 3+ years’ experience in the precast, structural or wider construction industry .
* Proven knowledge of precast systems, fixings, cast-in channels, or other relevant products.
* Experience in a technical-commercial or specification-facing role (design, engineering, technical sales, or project management).
* Existing relationships with precast manufacturers (highly advantageous).
Technical Skills
* Ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and precastdrawings.
* Understanding of load paths, fixings, and typical precast build-ups.
* Competent in Autodesk viewing tools, MS Office and ERP/CRM platforms
Soft Skills
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* High level of organisational and prioritisation ability.
* Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple live projects.
* Commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
