Overview

Operative - Works Delivery Track role at Network Rail.

As an Operative you will help keep our nation moving every day. You will be part of the daily upkeep of the rail network, working in a small team to support essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users. The role involves working outside in all conditions, day or night, and performing demanding manual work, often transporting kit across challenging terrain. You will be safety-focused, respectful of rules and a team player, and you will be supported with training to perform safely and competently.

Responsibilities

* Work in a small team to support essential maintenance and keep the railway running safely for passengers and freight users.
* Maintain equipment and provide lookout duties to keep the team safe on site.
* Travel between sites in a company vehicle and carry out required tasks in various outdoor conditions, including adverse weather.
* Assist with safety compliance and follow rules and instructions, while also challenging unsafe situations when appropriate.
* Support your team with proactive preparation (e.g., ensuring vans and equipment are ready) and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.


Your Skills and Qualifications (Essential Criteria)

* Experience of working in an environment where safety is vital
* Willing and able to work shifts, including days, nights, and weekends
* A team player with good communication skills (verbal and written)
* Keen to develop new skills
* Ability to work under pressure and in all weather conditions
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new standards, procedures, and instructions


Additional Information

* Shifts involve changing patterns including days, nights, and weekends
* Outdoor working in all weathers
* Driving license (category B) required to drive Network Rail vehicles
* Within a 60-minute commute of the location you are applying for

Salary

IMC £31,444 + Location Allowance
