Mostly customer site-based, across the UK
Work on systems that actually matter
If you have commissioned BMS systems across commercial or complex environments, you will know the difference between routine installs and projects that genuinely test your thinking.
At Combined Services, you will be working on systems that sit inside some of the UK’s most recognised buildings, from The Shard to Harrods and the Royal Albert Hall.
But the real story is where things are going, not where they have been.
Data centres, energy optimisation, and decarbonisation are driving a new wave of BMS complexity, and this role sits right in the middle of it.
What you will be doing
You will not just be ticking off commissioning checklists. You will be responsible for making systems work properly in the real world.
You will be:
* commissioning and validating BMS systems across live environments
* programming and tuning control strategies to improve performance and efficiency
* running FAT, SAT, and functional testing with a critical eye, not just a process mindset
* integrating BMS with HVAC, lighting, and wider building systems
* diagnosing issues across hardware, software, and communications
* working directly with clients and project teams to get systems over the line
* producing clear documentation and leaving behind systems that are genuinely fit for use
There is a strong expectation of ownership in this role. You are not just handing systems over, you are making sure they perform as intended.
What you will be working on
Projects range from commercial buildings and schools through to highly complex environments like data centres.
You will also contribute to work delivered alongside major organisations, including Schneider Electric and Equinix, where performance and reliability are non‑negotiable.
What they are looking for
This role would suit someone who already knows the BMS space well and wants to work on more challenging and varied projects.
You will likely bring:
* experience commissioning BMS systems in live environments
* familiarity with platforms such as Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Schneider, or Honeywell
* a strong understanding of HVAC systems and control strategies
* knowledge of communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks
* the ability to work independently across multiple projects
* confidence troubleshooting issues across hardware, software, and controls
What matters here
* you care about how systems actually perform, not just whether they pass a test
* you are comfortable working on customer sites and dealing with real‑world constraints
* you can communicate clearly with clients and project teams
* You take ownership when something is not quite right
Why this role is worth considering
* Most BMS roles look similar on paper. This one stands out for a few reasons.
* exposure to high‑profile and technically demanding environments
* real involvement in energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects
* a business that delivers across design, manufacture, installation, maintenance, and optimisation
* a stable and experienced team with a strong reputation in the market
Location and travel
This role is mostly based on customer sites. Projects can be anywhere in the UK, often in and around London and the Home Counties, but not limited to those areas.
Visits to the Princes Risborough office are only required as and when needed.
* A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle are required for travel between sites.
* A CSCS card is required. PASMA and IPAF would be useful, but are not essential.
