Group Operations Lead – Surveying & Project Management job in Manchester, Manchester – £75,000 – £90,000 DOE

Job Summary

Group Operations Lead job Manchester is a senior surveying and project management role supporting operational performance and strategic development. The role is based in Manchester within a multi-disciplined construction consultancy environment, supporting public sector residential, education, health, care, blue light, MOJ and MOD projects. You will work closely with senior leadership and Programme Managers to improve delivery, resource planning, project mobilisation and client service. The role will support monthly and annual fee invoicing targets, strengthen operational consistency and contribute to continued regional growth. You will help identify new markets, develop service offerings and support future leaders through coaching, mentoring and structured performance reviews.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Programme Managers to support operational performance, resource planning and project mobilisation across the group
  • Monitor service delivery and identify improvements that increase consistency, efficiency and client satisfaction
  • Support monthly and annual fee invoicing targets through close collaboration with Programme Managers and senior leadership
  • Align operational practices with strategic objectives to ensure consistent delivery across projects and service lines
  • Support mobilisation of new projects and service lines, ensuring readiness against client expectations
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through tenders, proposals, networking and client engagement
  • Build relationships with new clients and markets while tailoring services to emerging client challenges
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, personnel management, coaching, mentoring and structured performance review activity
  • Skills & Experience Required

  • MRICS status with a minimum of five years post chartership experience in a relevant consultancy environment
  • Minimum five years public sector experience across residential, education, health, care, blue light, MOJ or MOD
  • Proven people management experience with the ability to coach, mentor and develop future leaders
  • Strong operational leadership experience within multi-site or national service delivery environments
  • Demonstrable business development experience including tender submissions, client engagement and networking activity
  • Strong understanding of operational planning, resource management, service mobilisation and quality assurance frameworks
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a proactive and solution focused approach
  • Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvements across delivery, reporting and client service
