Forensic Psychologist
HMP Thameside
Full Time, Permanent (40 hours)
Salary - £45,194 per annum pro rota plus company benefits
We are looking for a Forensic Psychologist to join HMP Thameside, a Category B remand establishment for adult males. In this important role, you will deliver comprehensive psychological services, including assessments, contribute to the development of intervention strategies, and provide expert consultancy to staff. You will work with the prison's multidisciplinary teams to improve rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners, reducing re‑offending and enhancing prisoner wellbeing. Your role will also include overseeing the work of Forensic Psychologists in Training (FPiTs), ensuring all work complies with professional codes and guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Conduct psychological assessments including HCR-20, RSVP, SARA, and WAIS
* Prepare Psychological Risk Assessment Reports in line with Parole Board directions and act as a professional witness at Parole hearings to speak to those reports
* Support delivery of interventions, including supervision and clinical decision‑making
* Provide consultancy to staff on issues related to Safer Custody and Violence Reduction
* Develop and deliver essential training packages to staff

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
* Experience working with offenders and conducting psychological assessments and delivering interventions
* HCPC registration (or within six months of obtaining it)
* Stage 2 Diploma in Forensic Psychology with the BPS or close to completing Stage 2
* Knowledge of psychological theory related to the treatment of violent and sexual offending
* Comfortable completing parole reports and risk assessments such as WAIS, HCR-20, RSVP, and SARA
Desirable (but not essential)
* Registration with the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAAPS)
* Experience delivering group or one‑to‑one interventions using relevant psychological models
