We are looking to recruit 2 Trustees who will contribute their energy, enthusiasm, and expertise to our organisation. Help us make a lasting difference in people’s lives by supporting an essential service in Edinburgh.
What difference will you make?
Empty Kitchens Full Hearts SCIO aims to relieve poverty in Edinburgh by providing meals—made using surplus food—and follow-up support to people across the city, free of charge, and without judgement. Established in 2020, we have provided over 2 million meals to those in need. Our board of trustees is dedicated and passionate, responsible for governance and strategic direction. Joining this board offers a chance to make a real impact in Edinburgh.
As a Trustee, you will help shape the future of our organisation and ensure the continuation of our critical services. Trustees oversee strategy, governance, and financial sustainability, working with the Executive Team to ensure effective delivery of our mission and compliance with legal requirements.
What are we looking for?
We are interested in candidates with:
* Professional experience working with marginalised communities, including food insecurity and poverty.
* Fundraising experience across events, corporate, community, grants, and trusts.
All trustees should demonstrate:
* Ability to contribute to organisational development through active participation in meetings and working groups.
* Capacity to manage conflicts by maintaining transparency and separating personal interests from organisational responsibilities.
* Strategic thinking and collaboration skills to set long-term direction.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills to discuss complex issues and contribute to solutions.
* Ability to maintain a network for knowledge and experience sharing.
* Support and advice capabilities for trustees and officers.
* Commitment to public life standards and understanding of OSCR trustee requirements.
* Ability to work with the Chair to ensure effective governance and strategic direction.
* Advocacy skills to raise the organisation’s profile and build relationships with stakeholders.
What will you be doing?
* Providing expertise in marginalised communities to ensure accessible and impactful services.
* Leveraging professional and personal networks to generate income, build awareness, and advocate for the organisation.
