Job Summary
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a busy, dynamic, rapidly changing headache service in a regional neuroscience centre, based in a diverse and attractive city. Your role will be key in delivering high quality, accessible care for people with a wide variety of debilitating, refractory headache disorders in clinics.
Main Duties
As part of a consultant‑led team, you will play an integral role in delivering headache management at The Walton Centre. The role involves providing GP support for outpatient care and running a refractory headache clinic, under supervision by experienced neurology consultants. You will be expected to review and manage patients with a variety of headache disorders including but not limited to migraine, trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias, trigeminal neuralgia and idiopathic intracranial hypertension. You will deliver advanced headache treatment options as per national and local pathways and guidelines. A tailored job plan will be provided to accommodate regular outpatient clinics in the relevant speciality area.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and hold active licence to practice
* MRCGP or equivalent UK accreditation
Desirable Qualifications
* Higher qualification in related subject
Essential Clinical Experience
* Recent experience/familiarity with UK GP services, reviewing and managing headache patients as fully qualified GP.
Desirable Clinical Experience
* Experience in managing patients with headache disorders.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
* Ability to work as an effective member of the MDT.
* Ability to perform a detailed neurological examination.
* Ability to take initiative and manage a varied workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of quality.
Research – Essential
* Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research.

* Evidence of research.
