We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.


Responsibilities

* Lead the Economic Crime Unit (ECU) and manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer. Provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Act as the strategic lead for managing financial investigations to ensure compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA); proactively improve and enhance ways of working.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC). Influence at senior levels to ensure EA priorities are recognised by other enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving practices and understanding of POCA; share lessons learned, input into changes to technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers nationwide.
* Describe the ECU, its structure (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team), and its composition (Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers, Crime Analysts); work as part of a nationally dispersed team dealing with serious and complex crime.


Experience and Skills

* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team; strong understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in the law enforcement sector with understanding of the National Intelligence Model.
* Effective communication, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload.
* Ability to identify areas for improvement and lead changes to working practices.
* Experience in developing and enhancing the capability of a team and its individuals.

This is a hybrid working role; you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of our work; you may be required to have an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
