Overview

Mental health services in Manchester are commencing their journey around Community Transformation, working towards a new community mental health framework vision for a place-based community mental health model.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse post within our North Manchester Specialist Community Mental Health Teams based at the Central Park Hub.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong clinical skills who is enthusiastic and motivated to support our Specialist CMHTs with the aim of delivering safe, effective and high-quality services to our service users. The successful candidate will be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse who will relish working within the vibrant and challenging environment of Manchester. They will be an autonomous practitioner who is able to work within an established MDT and will have a key role in the assessment and treatment for patients accessing a service within the SCMHT.

The core hours are Monday to Friday 9-5, although some flexibility will be considered.

To support individuals referred to secondary mental health services for assessment or ongoing care, and to demonstrate the Trust values of inspiring hope, working together, being caring and compassionate, valuing and respecting others/ourselves and being open and honest.

As a qualified nurse you will demonstrate and live the NMC values as identified in the Code of Practice. Your post will include working with individuals using research-based interventions to promote their independence and recovery whilst maintaining high quality clinical documentation. This includes respecting individuality, values, cultures and religious diversity of clients and colleagues and thus contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7,000 staff and delivers services from more than 160 locations. Responsibilities

* To promote Positive Mental and Physical Health to individuals under the care of the service in all situations.
* To ensure and support individuals to collaborate in the development of their recovery plans and structured care plans and treatment.
* To assess, plan and review in line with the Care Act (2014) and s117 of the Mental Health Act (1983).
* To provide clinical supervision to members of the multidisciplinary team based on your clinical and professional knowledge.
* To supervise junior members of staff in their clinical risk assessment and formulation of crisis and risk planning.
* To promote recovery-focused care and interventions for individuals.
* To ensure that all interactions and documentation is person-centered following the NHS guidance “No decision about me, without me.”
* To co-produce individualised recovery plans with the individuals, carers or others identified by the Service User.
* To promote and maintain a learning culture within the team which supports the professional effectiveness of clinical care.
* To contribute to the delivery of multidisciplinary training including the induction of new staff, students and trainees.
* To demonstrate a high level of active communication skills with individuals and in a variety of forums and situations.
* To utilise highly developed interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication, including overcoming communication barriers such as sensory or cognitive impairment, or hostile or highly emotive situations.
* To provide specialist Mental Health Nursing interventions in the assessment, support and recovery of individuals with severe mental health difficulties. These include but are not limited to Mental State Assessments, Social Care Assessments, Physical health care monitoring and side effect monitoring.
* To ensure that all individuals have clear and accurate information regarding their care or the care of their loved ones.
* Where required to act up in the absence of the senior practitioner.
* To seek out and participate in line management and clinical supervision.
* To ensure the full involvement of individuals and their carers in the assessment, formulation and review of their care plans.
* To maintain high standards of clinical recording ensuring information is accurate, appropriate and up to date.
* To comply with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures with a focus on confidentiality, Information Governance and professional practice.
* To maintain personal well-being using resources available via the Trust or professionally.
* To identify unmet needs to support service improvement or planning to enhance individuals’ experiences of health services within the Trust or wider health economy.
* To comply with the NMC code of professional conduct, local and national professional standards, policies and procedures.
* To adhere to safeguarding principles for children and vulnerable adults in line with Trust policy and reporting procedures.
* With support from line managers, undertake safeguarding enquiries as appropriate and ensure person-centered, proportionate outcomes with risk mitigation.
* To ensure colleagues and junior staff are competent and compliant with safeguarding legislation and guidance.
* To act in line with the Trust\'s Infection Prevention and Control policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.
* To comply with service security requirements, lone-working procedures, health and safety at work and risk management procedures.
* To manage risk in accordance with Trust policies, including investigation processes related to Root Cause Analysis, complaints, accidents and near misses.
* To uphold the Trust values and work in an environment free from harassment, discrimination, abuse and violence.
* To promote the Trust\'s Anti-Racism agenda in all professional and personal interactions.
* To maintain personal and professional candour where incidents occur.
* To develop and maintain good working relationships with all partners involved in individuals\' care or the wider health economy, including GPs, commissioners and third sector agencies.
* To promote awareness of mental health and the role of the CMHT within local services, primary care and the wider community.
* To advocate on behalf of individuals under your care to ensure they are fully involved in their care and treatment.
* To exercise excellent time management, punctuality, consistency and reliability.
* To demonstrate empathy and compassion to individuals or their family/carers who may wish to make a complaint about their care.
* To take responsibility for your own learning and professional development, and to expand clinical, professional or governance skills.
* To act as an effective and empowered role model for others and share your knowledge and clinical skills.
* To act as a Practice Educator for students on clinical placements.
* To act with dignity and respect in line with the NMC code of practice and Trust guidance.
* To maintain professional registration and inform the Trust of any changes or restrictions on practice.
* To use clinical information only as required to perform duties.
* To maintain clinically sensitive information with confidentiality and share only when appropriate (Need to Know).
* To undertake any other reasonable duty as requested by an appropriate Trust manager.
* To understand and comply with all Trust policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
* To understand the Trust\'s Strategic Goals and how you can support them.
* To understand safeguarding implications for children and vulnerable adults and adhere to safeguarding principles.

Staff benefits

Pay Enhancements:

* Band 1: Time plus 47% for Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any weekday after 8pm and before 6am; Time plus 94% for All Sundays and Public Holidays.
* Band 2: Time plus 41% for Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any weekday after 8pm and before 6am; Time plus 83% for All Sundays and Public Holidays.
* Band 3: Time plus 35% for Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any weekday after 8pm and before 6am; Time plus 69% for All Sundays and Public Holidays.
* Band 4 – 9: Time plus 30% for Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any weekday after 8pm and before 6am; Time plus 60% for All Sundays and Public Holidays.
