Summary
Are you an Accredited Clinical Coder with experience working within an acute NHS hospital setting? The Clinical Coding team at our Peterborough site is looking to recruit a multi‑skilled specialist Clinical Coder. The successful candidate will be ACC qualified and have experience coding a broad range of clinical specialties.
Responsibilities
* Translate clinical information into diagnostic and procedure codes from patient health records scanned into an electronic document management system and other electronic sources.
* Conduct validation exercises with the responsible Consultant to ensure correct assignment of diagnostic and procedure codes and identify gaps in clinical documentation.
* Manage your own workload each day and meet usual deadlines for submission of coded data.
* Engage with clinicians and support staff to ensure coded data accurately reflects patient care.
* Participate in knowledge sharing and support from senior colleagues, mentors, qualified auditors and a trainer.
Qualifications
* Outstanding ACC qualification and proven experience in an acute NHS hospital setting.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with clinicians and relevant staff.
* Strong analytical and judgement skills.
* Good working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy across specialist clinical areas.
* Experience in coding across a range of clinical specialties preferred.
