Job Title: Senior Practitioner
Location of post: Youth Justice & Early Intervention Service, Base 15, Neath Abbey, Business Park Road, Neath Abbey, SA10 7DR
Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.
About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to join Neath Port Talbot Youth Justice Service as a Senior Practitioner to cover a period of maternity leave. We are a multi-agency team committed to preventing and reducing youth crime across the county of Neath Port Talbot. Aligned with Children’s Services, the Youth Justice Service works closely with area-based teams and other key partner agencies to safeguard and prevent the exploitation of young people.
This role provides the opportunity to work with a skilled, motivated and dedicated workforce, who are passionate about improving outcomes for children, families and victims of crime and working according to the Child First principles. As a valued member of the service, you will have a key role in supporting continued improvements to practice, contributing to the setting and delivery of strategic priorities, and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of services.
You are the right person for this role if you:
1. Can see beyond the offence and see the child.
2. Want to tackle head on disproportionality and inequality across youth justice.
3. Believe that behaviour is a form of communication and offending is symptomatic of their experiences.
4. Are committed to hearing the voice of the child, their families/carers and their victims and bringing this into the centre of what we do.
5. Want to work withchildren to build on their strengths and promote a childhood removed from the justice system.
6. Are passionate, motivated, and enthusiastic about delivering high quality services to children, victims, caregivers, and communities.
7. Have experience and skills relevant to the job description and person specification.
8. Have a desire to work with and alongside others, to learn, innovate and deliver improvements.
The post requires a Degree in Social Work or equivalent e.g. DipSW, CQSW and you must be registered with Social Care Wales.
