Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Optometrist to join our Gloucester team on a part-time basis (1–2 days per week), with a preference for Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday working.
Optometrists play a critical role at Newmedica, delivering high-quality clinical care across a range of services. You will primarily run glaucoma follow-up clinics, alongside supporting pre- and post-operative care and triaging patients. The role involves the use of advanced diagnostic equipment to perform detailed clinical assessments, as well as analysing and interpreting specialist diagnostic test results to identify new or worsening eye conditions.
This position is offered as an initial 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover, with a primary focus on glaucoma follow-up clinics. However, depending on your experience and expertise, there may be opportunities to work across additional clinic types.
You will provide clear, supportive advice to patients and explain clinical procedures with confidence and empathy. As eye surgery can be an understandably daunting experience, it is essential that you are approachable, compassionate, and able to reassure patients throughout their journey.
Working at Newmedica offers a modern, hospital-based environment with strong opportunities for clinical development. You will encounter a wide range of complex and interesting cases, making this an excellent opportunity for a qualified Optometrist looking to enhance their clinical decision-making skills and broaden their professional experience.
