Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Where Expertise Meets Innovation
North-West Chorley | UK-Wide Projects | Visa Sponsorship Available
£45–50k + Car + Bonus + Benefits | Flexible Hybrid Working
Are you a geotechnical expert who thrives on complexity, innovation and solving the problems others avoid? Want to work for a team that doesn’t follow the industry — but leads it?
We’re on the lookout for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a highly skilled and forward-thinking internal consultancy team that supports complex, high-risk, and technically demanding ground engineering projects across the UK.
You’ll be a key technical contributor in a team that’s shaping policy, standards, and the next generation of geotechnical design frameworks for the wider business — from pioneering new piling systems to working on iconic heritage structures, national infrastructure, and major civil projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design and analysis of complex foundation solutions using ground improvement and piling techniques
Act as a technical lead for non-standard projects, complex conditions, and geotechnical challenges
Help develop design frameworks for new products, systems and national design standards (e.g. Eurocode Gen 2)
Drive research, innovation and continuous improvement across the geotechnical discipline
Mentor junior team members and contribute to the wider development of internal engineering capability
You’ll Excel Here If You:
Bring deep understanding of geotechnical design first principles — you're the "first one in" on a tough site
Have experience in foundation design, ideally with piling contractors or ground engineering consultants
Know your way around complex geotechnical modelling — Plaxis experience is a big plus
Hold a relevant degree (Civil Engineering, Geology, etc.) — MSc in Geotechnical Engineering highly desirable
Have a specialism (e.g. slope stability, retaining walls, restricted access works) — we’re open to unique skills
What Makes This Role Stand Out:
This isn’t volume design — it’s niche, national-impact work that stretches your engineering brain
The team influences policy and standards — not just project outputs
Long-term development path in a team led by engineers with 20+ years’ experience and a passion for mentorship
The Package:
£45–50k base + company car
25 days holiday + BH, rising to 30 with service
Annual bonus linked to company performance (0–15%)
Share scheme (up to £1,500 annually)
Flexible hybrid working, early Friday finish, site travel expected but not contractual
Join a global construction group with innovation at its core
The Process:
Initial chat via Teams
Final interview with the team in person
