We are looking for our new MPD Lead Repair & Maintenance Technician based in our workshop in Portlethen. You will support and service all products within NOV’s Managed Pressure Drilling business. Your existing knowledge of repair and maintenance of valves and pipework including pressure testing will be critical to your success in this role. You will liaise with internal stakeholders, and will be required to manage your daily, weekly, and monthly schedule efficiently to maintain strong customer relations with the support we offer.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide technical support for our MPD operations & all associated MPD tasks in the preparation, execution, and end of well maintenance.
2. Calibration, Maintenance, Repair, Troubleshooting, including system rig up/rig down
3. Mechanical, hydraulic, & electrical aptitude with troubleshooting skills, including wiring Familiarity with a feedback control loop & control fundamentals, including single loop controllers, & programmable logic controllers (PLCs) Operate multi-meters & signal generators needed to setup, calibrate, & troubleshoot instrumentation
4. Ability to read/understand hydraulic set ups & process flow diagrams
5. Assist MPD Field Service Supervisor in all tasks at the wellsite
6. Understand of the fundamentals of drilling systems and process Interface with controls engineer in downloading, uploading, & troubleshooting software in PLCs Actively participate in the knowledge management system within the segment keeping up with the continuous improvement culture
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
7. HNC in Mechanical Engineering or have completed a time-served Mechanical apprenticeship
8. Working experience in a workshop environment
9. Knowledge in repair and maintenance of valves and pipework
10. Preferred experience in Managed Pressure Drilling
11. Previous knowledge of using JDE is preferable
