We have a great opportunity for an established Biomass plant who are seeking an experienced hands-on Operations Technician to join the shift team to actively deliver, planned and reactive first line maintenance, operational routines and testing requirements.
Your new role
Responsibilities include:
1. Operate the plant safely and within all environmental and operational limits at all times.
2. Monitor plant conditions and ensure Environmental Permitpliance; report any issues.
3. Carry out routine inspections, checks, adjustments, tests and record plant data.
4. Perform basic maintenance, fault‑finding and defect rectification to support reliability.
5. Track plant performance and take action to improve efficiency.
6. Follow site safety rules, including authorised isolations and HV switching.
7. Support emergency drills and take assigned roles during abnormal situations.
8. Assist maintenance and fuel‑handling teams, especially during deliveries and removals.
9. Support safe receipt of operational chemicals.
10. Help maintain accurate shift logs and record defects in the CMMS.
11. Follow all HSE policies and help update operational procedures.
12. Provide operational support during planned outages (may include day shifts).
What you'll need to succeed
13. ONC / C&G / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
14. Strong hands‑on experience with thermal or process plant operations.
15. Good understanding of HSE; IOSH Managing Safely preferred.
16. Background in mechanical, electrical or C&I trades.
17. Basic knowledge of steam turbines,bustion, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators and emissions systems.
18. Able to operate HMI/DCS systems.
19. Licences for FLT, front loader, telehandler and grab crane.

20. Salary: £35–40k
21. Hours: 40‑hour contract, 12‑hour rotating shifts (5‑week cycle), EV salary‑sacrifice scheme, Death in service: 3× salary, 6% employer pension, 2 weeks full paid paternity leave or 6 months maternity leave.
