Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer, AWS Infrastructure Operations
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring an Engineering Technician to support our data centers. The technician will ensure the overall availability and reliability of data center operations, meeting or exceeding service level expectations.
The Data Center Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment supporting mission-critical servers, aiming for better than 99.999% uptime. They will focus on high reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
Technicians are frontline troubleshooters for electrical and mechanical equipment, maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting facilities including diesel generators, fuel systems, electrical systems (switchgear, UPS, PDUs, batteries), cooling systems (CRAC, chillers, cooling towers), water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise contractors for servicing and preventive maintenance
* Perform maintenance tasks like filter changes, battery PMs, and PDU/ATS replacements
* Conduct root cause analysis for operational issues
* Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
* Ensure safety protocols are followed on-site
* Work on-call and rotating schedules
* Record operational readings and report metrics to senior engineers
* Utilize ticketing systems, perform root cause analysis, and prioritize tasks
A Day in the Life
The technician will oversee electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment maintenance, including site walks, working at heights, lifting objects up to 40 pounds, and working longer shifts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
* Associate's or technical degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* 2+ years in a Data Center or Mission Critical environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
* 4+ years of Data Center Operations experience
* Knowledge of network design, low voltage cabling (copper/fiber)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
