TIER 2 CERTIFICATE OF SPONSORSHIP (formerly Work Permit) Applications from doctors who require a Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcomed and will be considered for all doctors with appropriate experience, including all EU and UK trained doctors. Upon appointment, the relevant paperwork will be issued to the successful applicant, if required.
OVERVIEW
The hospital offers an excellent starting salary (dependent on experience) with pay enhancements for overtime, shift, and out-of-hours work. The average working week is 39 hours, with overtime opportunities as needed.
As a SHO/Senior House Officer, you will work closely with other junior doctors, registrar doctors, and Consultants within your department. You must maintain communication with colleagues on duty before and after your shift to ensure continuity of patient care. You will instruct nursing staff in patient care and coordinate with professional technical staff for investigations necessary for patient care, ensuring all departments are fully informed.
DUTIES (guideline only)
1. Provide safe and effective care of patients.
2. Have delegated responsibility for all patients under the care of the attached Consultant, including emergency cover and when other SHOs are off duty.
3. Refer issues beyond your authority or experience to the Consultant(s) and oversee and advise House Officers.
4. Apply specialist knowledge and skills across a range of impairments, procedures, and practices based on practical experience and theoretical knowledge.
5. Maintain responsibility for patient care and departmental functioning.
6. Provide diagnosis and treatment for all patient categories in the department.
7. Participate in staff meetings, forums, and development programs to support service development and high-quality care.
SALARY
The salary is based on the national salary scale as outlined in the Medical & Dental Terms / Conditions, ranging from £37,068 to £57,650 per annum.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The post-holder must stay up-to-date with their area of practice and demonstrate this to the hospital/trust/GMC. The trust supports continuing professional development, providing time and financial support, aligned with Royal College requirements and GMC Revalidation.
STUDY LEAVE
Professional or study leave is granted for approved purposes, including time off for study, research, teaching, examinations, visiting clinics outside the hospital/trust, and attending conferences. The study leave allowance is a maximum of 10 days per year.
