Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a English Teacher for a Secondary School in the Bristol area. This is a full-time position commencing in November 2025. Job Specification: The successful candidate will be a qualified English Teacher with the ability to effectively plan, deliver, and assess the subject across various key stages, across Key Stage 3 & 4 and ideally Key Stage 5 (A Level). Key Responsibilities and Requirements: Qualifications: Qualified Secondary Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This is a mandatory requirement. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a specialism in English are also encouraged to apply. Experience: Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school setting is essential. Proven ability to teach English effectively up to Key Stage 5 (A Level). Experience in developing and implementing schemes of work for English. Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy: Strong and up-to-date subject knowledge in English across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, covering core areas Understanding of effective teaching methodologies for English at secondary level Ability to utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources, Skill in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students. Assessment: Ability to implement appropriate formative and summative assessment methods specific to English. Skill in providing constructive and specific feedback to students to support their understanding and progress in the subject. Understanding of assessment requirements for GCSE and A Level English qualifications. Classroom Practice: Excellent classroom management and behaviour skills, creating a positive and productive learning environment Ability to foster students' scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in English. Professional Attributes: A genuine passion for English and a commitment to promoting scientific literacy. Dedication to helping all students achieve their full potential in English The ability to work effectively as part of a departmental team and contribute to the wider school community. A proactive and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
